Figuring out how to get a muscular body is the biggest problem of many skinny guys out there. Many of these skinny guys eat plenty of foods already and train as hard as anybody  else but it seem that everything that they do is in vain.

If you are one of these skinny guys, do not worry. One of the mistakes that you are probably committing is following the advice of people who are not as skinny as you are. This means that their advice is not applicable to you at all and may actually be counterproductive.

You are Neglecting the Importance of Diet

One of the reasons why many skinny guys fail to get a muscular body is because of having a poorly planned approach with regards to their nutrition and diet. These people need to consume a lot of calories every day in order to gain muscle mass quickly.

If you are already eating a lot of food then you are probably eating the wrong kinds. Quality is just as important as quantity. It is also important that you eat five to six small meals in a day instead of eating three big ones.

To determine your daily calorie requirement, you must multiply your current body weight in pounds by 24. If your weight is 150 pounds for example you will need to consume 3,600 calories every day.

At first glance, that number seems a lot but if you will split them into six meals, spread 2 to 3 hours apart, then it would not seem as daunting.

On a daily basis, you should be eating 25% proteins, 50% carbohydrates and around 25% fats. These nutrients should come from good sources such as beans, lean meats, green vegetables, pulses, fish and oatmeal. If you want to know how to get a muscular body then you will have to do some changes in your diet if you are not yet eating healthy.

Doing the Wrong Exercises in the Wrong Way

Another reason why many skinny guys find it hard to develop muscles is because they are following a workout regimen that is not destined for hardgainers like them. This means doing  a high number of reps on isolation exercises that are not really the best choice when it comes to building muscles.

If you are a hardgainer, then you need to focus on compound exercises that use free weights and target multiple muscles per movement such deadlifts and bench press. You should do, at most, three full-body workout per week. 

With this kind of system, you will be able to lift heavier weights which will result in faster muscle growth and less fatigue. You should also keep your workouts short (not longer than an hour) in order to gain more muscles quickly

You should aspire to lift heavy weights and stimulate the most number of muscles fibers per movement. 

You Spend Too Much Time on Cardio

Doing too much cardio can be detrimental for skinny guys who are looking to build muscles. Remember, that your goal is to build muscle and not to lose weight.

Doing cardio will increase our stamina and endurance but it also burns a lot of calories. That is why it is ideal for people wanting to lose weight. Doing cardio exercises will make it more difficult for you to build muscles

Hold back on the cardio for the first few weeks of building muscles. If you’ve notice some bulk already then that is the time you can already include some cardio in your workout.
